Negombo

Overview

• Negombo is the second largest city in the west of Sri Lanka, located 37 km north of Colombo. It is one of the largest economic cities.

• Negombo is famous for the busiest fish market among other cities. The fishery industry is the main income in the city. While many locals are involved in the tourism industry, offering goods, facilities, and a warm welcome to the whole world.

• These locals are born with the science of hospitality in their blood. Negombo is rich with many religions and cultures.  The majority of the population are catholic, friendly, and helpful people. Holland’s fort which was built in 1672 is now used as a prison; the water canal built by Dutch people and the fishery villages give Negombo a unique attraction.
